In the previous post , I talked in extremely great detail about the important role the Yin and Yang diet plays on your digestive system health and how your skin health is a reflection of digestive health. I also highlighted the most important factor with regard to a healthy eating routine is to understand the cooking process of foods and how they also play a role in minimizing symptoms of intestinal heat constipation especially for people who suffer from acne prone skin, a symptom that a lot of popular colon cleansing products on the market don’t address. In other words, eating steamed foods are a lot healthier than eating grilled foods with steam foods being the Yin foods (cooling) and grilled foods being the Yang foods (hot) which is the entire basis behind the Yin and Yang diet plan. So the principles of accelerated detoxification solely rests on your ability to develop a healthy eating balance of both Yin and Yang type food in your diet and using a Chinese tongue diagnosis procedure to check for signs of potential acne-causing internal heat symptoms reflected in the color of your tongue coating. And that is what I am going to talk about today.
If you suffer from any type of skin ailment ranging from acne, pimples, Rosacea, excessively oily skin, oily acne prone skin, dry skin, dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis, you need to implement the Yin and Yang diet into your healthy eating plan. Let me go into great detail about Yin and Yang foods. Although I talked about it briefly in the previous post, I never gave you a detailed comparison of what they are.
I spoke about how excessive intake of Yang foods (like fried foods) causes all kinds of skin problems. And not only that, it also affects your overall health. In case you didn’t know, your skin health is a reflection of the Yin and Yang balance of all your organs: Liver, Lungs, Spleen, Heart, and Kidneys. And the foods you eat in terms of the Yin and Yang elements associated with it has a tremendous impact on your overall health. In case you didn’t know, a Chinese herbalist can look at your face and can diagnose your symptoms pretty accurately and determine what type of minor health problems you may be suffering at the moment that is not considered serious.
For example, let’s say you are currently feeling sluggish. An herbalist, such as my dad, can look at your face and determine that you are suffering from lack of Kidney chi. What? Kidney Chi? I am just using this as an actual example. As a matter of fact, my sister occasionally suffers from Kidney chi deficiency. And in the previous posts, I told you how she watches her diet carefully and eats what I consider to be an almost perfectly healthy diet that reflects the principles of daily detoxification. But still to this day she suffers from that kind of digestive health ailment.
Let me give you an example of what I am talking about. As you should be aware that I talked about my sister’s healthy diet routine in the prior posts and right now you are probably scratching your heads wondering how on earth can what appears to be a very healthy woman suffer from minor symptoms of Yin and Yang imbalance. That is exactly what my sister suffers from constantly, and I told her about what types of food in diet she needs to include to offset those minor side effects of kidney chi deficiency. But she still ignores me because she is so obsessed with maintaining beautiful skin that she is so worried that the slightest intake of Yang foods will ruin her perfect complexion. Don’t get me wrong. That is what overconsumption of Yang foods tend to do. And when I tell my sister to include Yang foods in her diet, I don’t mean fried chicken!
Let me give you an example of what types of Yang health foods to eat. In the previous post, I mentioned that Yang foods reflect the cooking process of FRIED, GRILLED, ROASTED, PAN FRIED, AND BAKED. And Yin foods reflected the cooking process of STEAMED AND BOILED. An obviously you can draw your own conclusion that steamed and boiled is the healthy cooking method because the Yin elements in food (water content) are retained. And the Yang cooking methods (Fried, grilled, roasted, pan fried, and baked) strip water out of the food. Now you can see why eating too many Yang foods can cause inflammation if you don’t balance it with Yin foods. The Yin and Yang that I am talking in this paragraph only relates to the Yin and Yang cooking method and NOT the Yin and Yang characteristics of the actual food itself. I am going to cover that now.
My sister suffers from kidney chi deficiency because she consumes a lot of vegetables. And vegetables regardless of how they are cooked are considered Yin foods. Vegetables cool the body. Whereas meats like chicken (even steamed chicken) warms the body. Chicken is technically still a Yang food regardless of it’s Yin cooking method of steaming. These are the natural Yin and Yang characteristics of the food itself that mother nature gave it before you even talk about how to cook it with all the methods I have disclosed.
When I told my sister that she needs to include more Yang foods to offset her Yang deficiency conditions, I meant including more natural Yang foods like Ginger spices that she can add to her salads to balance the Yin and Yang conditions of her body. I will go into detail about that in the future posts.
In the previous post, I emphasized that eating too many Yang foods can cause skin related problems and a host of other biological health disorders such as intestinal heat constipation. But you are now probably shocked at the fact that you can also suffer from other common types of illness by the overindulgence of Yin foods, like vegetables. While eating too many Yang foods will send you in a heating uproar, eating too many Yin foods can have you feeling cold on a hot day.
Now let me go over Chinese tongue diagnosis as it relates to Yin and Yang symptoms. If you tend to eat a lot of Yang foods and suffer from indigestion as a result of not eating a properly combined meal or high fat meals which are hard to digest, your tongue coating will appear yellowish in texture. The thickness of your yellow tongue coating is a reflection of the amount of excessive Yang conditions in your body coupled with digestive dampness. Digestive dampness? What the hell are you talking about, Billy? Don’t worry. I will go into greater detail in future posts. But briefly, digestive dampness is a form of indigestion based on the principles of Chinese traditional medicine. It is just another digestive symptom that can worsen the underlying problem of excessive Yang conditions. Like I said, I will go in more detail in the future posts.
If your tongue coating reflects the appearance (Yellow and thick) I described in the above example, it means that you have consumed way too many Yang foods and have poor digestion. On the other hand, if you consume too many Yang foods and have good and easy digestion, your tongue will be a very bright red color with no coating at all. A normal tongue is supposed to be pink with a thin transparent white coating. As you can see, the redder your tongue, the more Yang (or fiery) you are internally. Your tongue is the barometer of digestive health in terms of Yin and Yang balance.
My recommendation is to eat more vegetables at every meal, eliminate high fat foods in your diet, and reduce your meat intake until your tongue returns to the normal pink appearance. Just remember that the redder your tongue, the more Yang you are and your need to include more Yin food in your diet.
And if your tongue is really red and has a thick yellow coating, you need to really stay away from foods that are hard to digest especially fatty foods. An excellent remedy is to maintain a starch free diet for one day. In other words, you are allowed to have moderate amounts of meat with vegetables and soups.

In the previous post, I talked about how the body processes food differently given the biological characteristics we were born with being transfered to us by our parents. And that explains why some of the typical hereditary health problems we face are related to digestive issues and we all have a natural tendency to take the path of least resistance by kowtowing to it, assuming that we are all a victim of this hereditary disease and there is nothing we can do about it. And that also includes severe acne that a lot of people face today. If you suffer from persistent acne, there is a good chance that one of your parents and grandparents suffered from it. This type of tendency for acne development is all reflected in our hereditary and dietary patterns that are passed down from one generation to the next. Today I am going to continue where I left off in the previous post to show you how to perform a Chinese tongue diagnosis to give you early indications of potential causes of acne symptoms that you should be aware of and alert you to implement a modification of diet to minimize the extremeness of the symptoms of toxicity that could worsen if it is not addressed early. Look at tongue diagnosis as a satellite weather map that accurately pinpoints potential skin health problems lurking in your body that the naked eye cannot see.
My dad suffered from severe acne when he was a kid, and I remembered him telling me how extreme it was and the remedies his mother would provide him as a kid. My dad grew up poor in Hong Kong. He would tell me that his diet routine consisted Chinese rice porridge for three meals a day: breakfast, lunch and dinner with small amounts of meats and vegetables. And he told how he awfully dreaded the rice soup diet as a kid, and how he would find himself drooling on many occasions when the delicious aroma of cooked food emanating from the restaurants filled his sensitive nose. I can understand how my dad felt. Surviving a diet on rice porridge is almost like going on a liquid fasting diet every day. A couple days of solely living on healthy rice soup will have you developing solid food cravings in not time.
But what he noticed was that a detox cleansing fast on rice porridge was the best way to get rid of acne fast without feeling starved. Even though he had gradually fading acne scars, he would notice an improvement in skin texture and smoother appearance. I am pretty sure you have seen women with mild acne and smooth skin. That is exactly what I am talking about.
For those of you who don’t know what rice porridge is, it is called Jook (in Cantonese). Most Chinese restaurants serve it. It is very delicious. The recipe for Rice porridge is just like cooking rice. The only difference is that you are only taking a small handful of raw rice and approximately 8 cups of water or more. And the rice is simmered on very low heat with your healthy choice of meat ( or none if you choose to abstain from meat ) for two to three hours until it becomes semi thick or soupy. You can add Chicken broth and salt to make it tasty.
The Chinese have eaten Jook traditionally to treat internal heat inflammation symptoms and colon inflammation. And internal heat symptoms are the primary causes of acne and a host of other skin problems. Internal heat symptoms? What the hell is internal heat symptoms you ask? For example, if I had you eating fried chicken for the next two days without no vegetables, you will suffer from excessive internal heat. And even if you had a lot of vegetables, you will still have it. The reason why is because Fried Chicken is cooked at extremely, extremely high temperature. According to the principles of traditional Chinese medicine, the toxic heat elements (as a result of the deep frying process) that is imbued in the chicken is transferred into your body when you consume it. Now compare that with boiled chicken where the heat temperature is very low compared to the unhealthy cooking method of fried chicken. Now do you see my point?
Consuming anything fried, grilled, roasted, barbecued, and baked, utilizes extremely high temperature unhealthy cooking practices that removes the water content from the food. Anything boiled or steamed utilizes the maximum heat temperature of water. But the only difference is that the boiled and steamed food retains water. And water cools down very fast.
Now you see why so many Americans suffer from inflammation symptoms? If you have ever been to San Francisco Chinatown, you see a lot of Americans going to the overcrowded Chinese herb shops to buy American Ginseng and a multitude of Chinese herbal remedies. I am pretty sure there are Chinatowns all over the US with the same kinds of herb shops. And you are wondering what is the purpose behind the healing power of American Ginseng? What it’s known to do is dramatically reduce internal heat that causes internal inflammation. A lot of Americans are catching on to the miraculous inflammation healing power of American Ginseng due to the nature of this extremely cooling herb to treat intestinal heat constipation. Heat constipation is a symptom where the heat in the intestines dries up the fluids resulting in dry stools. “Excuse me for being so graphic”…. the most memorable line from the infomercial of Klee Irwin, the creator of the Dual Action Cleanse colon cleansing solution.
But please do me a favor, do not mistake American Ginseng for Korean Ginseng or Chinese Ginseng. The latter two are more of a heating stimulant. They are the exact opposite of American Ginseng. Just remember that American Ginseng is a very cooling herbal extract in the form of tea.
So you can draw the conclusion that consuming Korean or Chinese Ginseng ( both are heating herbs) after an unhealthy meal of fried chicken meal is a definite NO NO!!! And by doing that would aggravate internal heat sickness. The perfect analogy I can use in this example is like adding more fuel to the fire.
According to the principles of Chinese internal medicine, acne, pimples, Rosacea, excessively oily skin, oily acne prone skin, dry skin, dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis, and host of other skin ailments are a direct result of intense internal heat symptoms aggravated by consuming excessive amounts of extreme heat-induced toxic foods that fall the category of FRIED, GRILLED, ROASTED, BARBECUED, BAKED, AND PAN FRIED.
I remember some time ago watching a Proactive Solutions infomercial where those dermatologists rejected the idea that acne is caused by diet. That was some time ago when Proactive Solutions came out for the first time. I think it was about 1996 when I tried Proactive for the first time. But I am sure today, the same dermatologists changed their opinion about the importance of diet being a major factor on radiant skin health. I truly believed as time evolved, they have been constantly educating themselves on the subject of skin health and eventually made some shocking dietary skin care discoveries just like I did later on in my life regarding the importance of detoxification.
And at that time, I remembered not knowing the exact meaning of a healthy way of eating. As a matter of fact, I honestly didn’t care at all. I was eating unhealthy foods like hot dogs and hamburgers almost every day. No wonder why it resulted in my acne getting worse despite my persistent use of this effective acne product that did nothing for me at all. I had excessively oily skin, a problem Proactive couldn’t solve. The reason why I say “effective product” was because a lot of people have gotten great results from that acne remedy. And till this day, Proactive Solutions is still a best selling product with constantly rising new stars like Jessica Simpson and more endorsing it. They already have their own dominated market share of satisfied customers.
If I can use a perfect analogy to describe why Proactiv doesn’t work for me, it is like me trying to fill a bucket with water with a hole at the bottom. And that hole at the bottom of that bucket was the hamburgers, hot dogs and the fried chicken I have been eating every single day. Maybe if I was eating semi healthy foods, the product may or may have not worked. And I can bet that all the people appearing as featured testimonials in the Proactive Solutions infomercials have embarked on an acne cure diet in order to see results. You never hear those customer testimonials talk about their dietary changes for acne treatment on live national TV.
And correct me if I am wrong. I can bet that when you have called to place your very first order for Proactive Solutions, before you could get a chance to hang up the phone, the operator offered you some special deal on vitamins for acne and other supplements to go with the acne product. And I am so sure that they have told you the importance of skin health and diet and they are using this as their sales pitch to sell you acne relief supplements. And now I can see why a lot of people are seeing some results. And at that time when I had placed my first order, I remembered telling the operator that I was only interested in just the acne product and nothing else.
And I remember at that same time also there were infomercials about the tongue scraper. And those so-called oral hygiene experts made the claim that this tongue scraper that looked no different than the hand held shaver would help you get rid of bad breath by aiding in the removal of the foul smelling tongue coating called halitosis. Do I need to say more? You could have saved yourself some money by using your toothbrush effectively and taking advantage of the detoxification secrets of fresh fruits or freshly squeezed fruit juices on an empty stomach.
I have done my share of tongue scraping and I do it every morning as I am brushing my teeth. But regardless of how much tongue coating you are capable of scraping off, if your body is toxic from the burden of food related ill health and hard to digest foods, the tongue coating will reappear if you decide to continue your day with the same indigestible foods of a toxic nature that you had the day before.
Due to the extreme length of this post as a results of my ramblings, I promise you on the next post that I am going to focus entirely on tongue diagnosis to help you detect oncoming toxins that lead to acne, skin problems and a host of other health issues and the acne preventive measures you should take to bring them to a screeching halt!!

Today I am going to talk about a time tested and proven detoxification principles involving tongue analysis to help you determine the quantity of toxins in your body. I will also reveal what types of foods you should avoid when you have a specific type of tongue coating. Oily acne prone skin sufferers will definitely benefit tremendously from today’s post. Whether you suffer from Rosacea, eczema, dermatitis, psoriasis, dry skin, excessively oily skin (my skin type), skin rashes, persistent acne, mild acne, or any other irritating skin conditions, you will be very well educated on how to reverse these irritating skin problems that reside in your body by performing your very own routine tongue examinations to help you diagnose skin infections or toxins in your body. I will show you how to stop it in it’s tracks before it gets worse. It is considered to be an ancient Chinese preventive medicine protocol and a method of Asian skin care. This is based on my strong belief in the concept that an ounce of prevention is always worth a pound of cure.
You can engage in a very healthy eating routine and still occasionally suffer health problems relating to everything from allergies, colds, physical discomfort, and skin problems. I know we all have heard the saying that if you eat a healthy diet, it is very hard to get sick. It is true to the extent of what types of foods you are eating. If you are eating a properly balanced diet consisting of, for example, vegetarian whole wheat pasta, you may feel fine and notice much better improved health. But another person can eat the exact same dish like yours and develop mild digestive discomfort. This is due to the fact that we were all born with different digestive systems. Some have stronger digestive systems than others. That is just mother nature that we cannot change. That is why we all have hereditary diet problems that are passed on from generations. Let me give you an example.
My dad suffers from jock itch and he was battling it all his life until now he finally got it under control. I suffered from occasional jock itches a couple years ago and other types of body rashes. Thank God that I now have it under control. This is mainly due to allergic reactions to foods of certain kinds and how our bodies inefficiently process those types of foods. Now let me talk about the way how your body processes food differently.
Michael Phelps, the Olympic swimming champion with 8 gold medals, is a classic example of how he can process all kinds of foods very well. If you had watched the Olympics intensely like I did, you would have become acquainted with his unorthodox diet routine. Did you see all those huge servings of heavy foods that he downed in one sitting? I am a big eater myself but not like him. And plus tall people tend to eat more than short people because they have bigger stomachs. And given the strenuous swimming activities he engages in, he needs those calories anyway despite the moderately healthy foods he’s consuming on a daily basis. The reason I say moderately healthy is because despite his consumption of foods high in fat, high in starchy carbohydrates and low in vegetables, he manages very well to refrain from eating hamburgers and fried foods which are the most difficult to digest. And as long as he stay away from fried foods, the food he is currently eating is considered a mildly healthy meal given his energy needs.
Even though hamburgers are not fried like chicken, but from a Chinese medicine standpoint, they are considered fried because the hamburger meat is pan fried in not only oil but enormous amount of animal fat. The Chinese herbalist take into account the way the food has been cooked.
These are the types of foods that cause acne and pimples. And I am not surprised that Michael doesn’t have any at all. As a matter of fact, he can get away with this type of daily eating routine without suffering any side effects due to the extreme physical exertion of his swimming activities. Please note that I am not trying to say that if you are very active like Michael Phelps, and eat like him, you are not going to suffer from acne. As a matter of fact, there are a lot of athletes who have developed acne. That is because they follow a diet high in fat especially fried foods which makes those foods incredibly hard to digest.
One thing I noticed about Michael Phelps is that he rarely eats fried foods. I am pretty sure his nutritionist advised him to stay away from hard to digest fried foods that would impair his physical performance. And also he doesn’t stuff himself either. Despite the huge servings of food he wolfs down on a regular basis in each sitting, he only eats to be satiated. He never under eats or overeats. And that is the key to be acne free. It is the most misunderstood concept that acne sufferers take for granted.
And there are acne victims who have dramatically reduced their acne symptoms by simply quitting their habit of overeating. Instead they just eat to be satiated. And by doing that, they reduce the possibility of digestive impairment that can aggravate acne conditions. And that is without any drastic dietary changes.
A good rule of thumb to practice is that if you are going to eat foods like pizza and you know that pizza slows digestion due to it’s hard to digest nature, just don’t eat so much of it. If it normally takes two slices to keep you full, just eat one slice instead. The purpose of this exercise is to teach you not to eat until you are full. My father have given me these words of wisdom given his herbalist background. He said to eat until you are about 70% full. That is the healthy way of eating. I know it is hard to quantify “stomach fullness.” The best advice I can give you is just eat when you are hungry. And stop eating when you are not hungry anymore. The whole purpose of eating is to eliminate hunger.
Body builders eat six meals a day or more and they are able to stay lean because they are eating smaller meals for optimal digestion and physical performance. And they rarely suffer from skin ailments. The ones who do are most likely taking steroids or consuming too many calories in their quest to gain muscle. I personally know skinny people who were once acne and blemish free all of sudden developed severe acne because they started taking supplements and ingesting high calorie meals in their desperate attempts to gain weight on a muscle building program. And I have been there and done that.
People who suffer from bad breath symptoms are people who love to overeat. In other words, they will continue to finish everything on their plate regardless of how full they are already. I know we were taught to eat everything on our plate and don’t waste anything. This type of mindset that was instilled in us from the day we were born until now is the main factor behind the rising epidemic of obesity, digestive disorders, sluggishness and skin problems.
In the prior posts, I talked about the rising epidemic of a particular bad habit. And that is studying or reading after eating a big meal. Blood that is needed to digest your food is drawn away from your stomach to your brain when you engage in reading or any other kind of intense mental concentration. As a result, you will suffer from lack of proper digestion. And as a result, bad breath will follow.
Now I am going to go over the tongue analysis exercise that you can use to effectively diagnose your current symptoms. All acne sufferers should follow this protocol in attempts to eliminate the symptoms that are causing their acne flare ups.
The best time to perform a tongue diagnosis is early in the morning after you rise. The appearance of your tongue should be pink with a thin white transparent coating on the back. This is a sign of healthy digestive system.
Acne sufferers tend to have a tongue with a thick yellow greasy coating. That represents a sign of digestive disorders that cannot be felt in terms of side effects. It manifests itself in the form of bad breath odor. There are a combination of factors that causes this type of tongue coating. Pigging out, eating fried foods or oily foods, or any slow digesting foods (excessive meat ), and Yang foods.
Yang foods refer to spicy foods or any food cooked at a very high temperature. This refers to these styles of cooking: roasted, barbecue, fried, grilled, pan fried, and baked. These particular cooking processes are extremely high in temperature.
Boiled food (and steamed food) do not have as high a temperature as foods that are roasted, barbecue, grilled, fried, pan fried and baked. Foods that are boiled and steamed tend to retain water. Remember in the earlier posts, I talked about the principle of eating high water content fruits and vegetables. Well that principle also applies to method of cooking. For example, when you boil a chicken as opposed to baking a chicken, which one would you say retains more water? Of course, the boiled chicken. And technically from principles of Chinese Medicine, eating a boiled chicken is much healthier than eating a roasted chicken.
Due to the extreme length of this post, I will continue where I left off. I strongly feel that in order for me to really help you fully understand how to properly perform a tongue diagnosis to eliminate skin disorders and other unfelt digestive disorders that causes many types of health problems, I strongly believe it is important for you to first understand all the important points of how your body assimilates food differently so you can have an even better understanding of tongue diagnosis in Chinese Medicine.

In my previous post, I covered in great detail of what I consider to be the perfect weight loss detox diet because it gives you the quickest results out of all the detox diet recipes I have disclosed in the previous posts. Today I am going to talk about the wonderful benefits of a liquid fasting. I don’t do it personally because I am not trying to lose weight. I have a fast metabolism and I need calories in my diet. I find that to be very excruciatingly painful when I hear about it. But she has the clear beautiful skin to show for it.
Most average size men would never consider doing a fasting and cleansing program because they are too macho for it. I admit I would never do it myself. Maintaining lean body mass in the form of muscle appeals to them more than looking like a skinny pretty boy.
But women, on the other hand, who places a tremendous priority on the importance of looks are more likely inclined to commit to seven day fasts for the sake of clear beautiful skin. And that is the sacrifice they are willing to take.
In my prior posts, I mentioned my sister trying the diet fast for half a day, and just couldn’t handle it. So she had to continue the rest of the day on healthy solid foods. But I give her credit for trying. But what is really interesting was after writing the previous post about the sustainable detox , my sister e-mailed me to tell me that she can now, for the first time, follow the plan as I laid out. This is coming from someone who couldn’t complete a single day on a liquid fast diet. My sister told me, at that time, the reason why she couldn’t complete the fast was because she was doing it on strictly water and water has no calories. And the fact that she has a fast metabolism like me left her feeling incredibly irritable and hungry.
Now I got her developing the habit of drinking Odwalla Superfood juices from Safeway in the morning occasionally when she doesn’t feel hungry in the morning. As a matter of fact there were times when she wasn’t hungry at all for some strange reason and she had drunk freshly squeezed fruit juices all morning and afternoon leading up to dinner when she managed to regain her appetite at last for her night time dinner engagements. Although she never completed an entire day on a liquid fast, a half a day is better than none at all. This is a perfect example of listening to your body.
Most of us today make the mistake of forcing ourselves to eat even when we are not hungry because we were all taught that if we didn’t put food in our bodies, we will not have energy resulting in a compromised immune system. That is a bad habit I occasionally fall victim to also. I find myself forcing myself to eat solid foods when I am not hungry for fear of losing muscle weight. And as a result, I would suffer from mild constipation and mild sluggishness.
Mild constipation? Mild sluggishness? I know you are wondering what the hell am I talking about. I guess I know my daily bowel movements so well that I put them into different categories from mild to the chronic.
Contrary to popular belief, you are not supposed to eat when you are not hungry. And in case you didn’t know, have you ever wondered how come on certain days you don’t feel hungry as the day before? And you thought that something must be wrong with your body at that moment and you thought that it was best for you to put at least something in your stomach for energy reasons.
The reason why on certain days you don’t feel hungry is because on the previous days you had eaten probably too many fatty foods or foods that are hard to digest. And the undigested food carried over into the next day. That is why sometimes you wake up in the morning with a bad taste in your mouth. And we all know that is the first sign of bad breath symptoms. The sign takes the form of a coated tongue. When you look in the mirror, you will most likely see a either a thick white coating on your tongue or a thick yellow coating. This is known as tongue diagnosis in Traditional Chinese medicine. Acne problems and a host of other skin problems are results of improper food combining and excessive food intake.
The coating of your tongue is a sign of accumulation of toxins culminating from the previous day’s indigestion. And during your sleep, your digestive energy slows down. And of course, we were all told to avoid eating before sleep because it would cause digestive impairment. Now you understand why we all wake up the next day with either mild breath odor or worse depending what types of hard-to-digest foods you had the day before. And you would brush your coated tongue with a toothbrush to scrape away the bad breath temporarily.
I say temporarily because it depends how you start your day off for breakfast. If you had bad breath resulting from yesterday’s indigestion and you decide to still have hash browns, bacon and eggs for breakfast, then your bad breath symptoms will continue to persist. What you are doing is overwhelming your digestive system even more when it needs a big break at that moment in time. That is why I mentioned the importance of eating fruits on an empty stomach in the morning to detoxify your body of all the undigested food resulting from improper food combining of yesterday. Fruits don’t require digestion. They stay in your stomach for 30 minutes before entering your intestines for nutrient assimilation and natural colon cleansing.
There are times I don’t feel hungry in the morning so I would just have Odwalla Superfood juices all morning. So technically speaking, even though I have said I have never engaged in fasting, I can actually take back what I said. I can proudly say that I have done a half day liquid fast. In other words, I would have just freshly squeezed juices all morning and mid afternoon until I regain my appetite for some healthy solid foods. That is a perfect example of listening to my body. I have learned my lesson the hard way when I suffered the mild side affects of forcing myself to eat when I was not hungry. Going forward, if you are not hungry, it is a lot better to abstain from food. Just have freshly squeezed juices until your appetite returns. Don’t go against what your body is telling you. Your lack of hunger is a result of acccumulation of toxins from yesterday’s or the same day’s undigested food. Rest your body and your body will thank you for it.
Now there you have it. I just revealed to you an effective way on how to include a liquid cleansing detox routine on certain days when you need it the most. Listen to your body. When you are not hungry, just drink freshly squeezed fruit juices and soups instead. Take advantage of that particular moment of time to go on either a half day or a full day liquid diet. Your body and skin will thank you for it.

In my previous posts I revealed some very exciting secrets behind an enhanced colon cleansing procedure with palatable healthy food choices as you gradually make a transition from unhealthy eating habits to healthy ones. As a reward to you for your efforts, you will see not only changes in terms of inches off your waist but also a flawless ageless skin that you can take pride in. I also mentioned that this is a program that even an 8 year old kid can follow despite having a pizza hamburger hot dog eating habits. Today I will cover a more intense detox diet plan that requires you to abstain from meat for at least one day. And that is all I ask. Nothing more. Just to let you know that there are a lot of mouth watering palatable vegetarian food choices you can make. This will keep your mind at ease so you can look forward to all the delicious meatless dishes at any of your favorite restaurants.
So get ready for an entire day of vegetarian eating. I know most of you die hard Wendy’s meatatarians are going to have a hard time stomaching this type of healthy eating routine. Only do so if you are up to the task of taking your detoxification to a much higher level. So just continue on with your meat and vegetable dishes with no starches until you feel you are up to the challenge of the painful role of a one day vegetarian. The reason why I say painful because the thought of eating healthy meatless meals for an entire day is probably unbearable to you for the time being.
Vegetarian meals are considered to be the most natural form of colon cleansing for intestinal health without the need of colon cleansing products. That is because the ease at which a properly combined meal are digested. Let me clear up some confusion about the definition of appropriate vegetarian meals designed specifically for colon cleansing.
I know many vegetarians who don’t eat healthy meals. Despite their lack of cancer causing meat consumption, they eat a lot of starchy food and not enough vegetables. In other words, their consumption of starches more than exceeds the small portion of vegetables on their plate by a 3 to 1 ratio or more. That is the reason why so many vegetarians are overweight. And to add insult to injury, they eat a lot of starch processed foods like cakes and cookies.
Some vegetarians would argue that eating a vegetarian diet is a lot healthier than a meat diet regardless of how many processed foods they consumed. And their argument is that meat is a lot hard to digest than starch processed foods. As a matter of fact, they are right to a certain extent. But studies will show that an excessive consumption of processed foods will eventually lead to diabetes. I know a lot of people who fall under that category.
The true vegetarians are the one who consume more vegetables than starches. Although the meaning of vegetarianism is being defined as anyone who doesn’t eat meat at all period. So based on that definition, a vegetarian can eat junk-meal type meatless food and still be called a vegetarian.
I would label those people who eat more starches than vegetables “pastatarians” if their diet consists of mostly pasta…the ultimate pasta diet. Now what would you call people who love to eat rice? Rice-arians?…..especially if they consume more rice than vegetables. These are vegetarians who do not eat a properly balanced meal. If their meals were balanced, their vegetable-starch ratio would be equally one to one.
You all have heard of the concept of consuming high quality protein that is equal to the size of your fist….and so with starches….and so with vegetables. Every portion of food is equal in size. No more. No less. Which reminds me of the 40-30-30 fat burning diet that most of you are aware of. For those who are not aware, those numbers reflect the percentages of carbohydrates, proteins and fats in that specific order. Personal trainers and other weight loss experts theorizes that this formula is perfect for weight loss because it reflects the principles of a perfectly balanced meal.
They are right to a certain extent. The problem with that concept is that fats cannot be measured with the naked eye. Let me give you a perfect example. If I were to place two pieces of meat of equal size and juxtapose them next to one another, can you tell which meat is fattier ? And if so, by how much? You see how that opens up a whole new can of worms. Even PhD diet experts cannot determine the amount of fat calories in a piece of meat with their naked eye. So that throws the 40-30-30 diet principle out the window.
Many years ago, the 40-30-30 fat burning diet was popularized as a very effective weight loss method. And don’t get me wrong. It was very effective and still is today. But the problem with that diet approach, even with a calorie book you still cannot determine the exact percentages of macronutrients with your naked eye. It is like me guessing the percentage of fat in a well balanced meal where you got a fist full of chicken breast covered in gravy, a fist full of mash potatoes and a fist full of coleslaw. Now just by looking at the gravy, can you tell how fat the gravy is? I know a lot of chefs do a really good job in covering up the fatty appearance of gravy. I will give you an example of what I was talking about.
My dad and I went to a Chinese restaurant and I ordered what anyone would consider to be healthy and low in fat. What I ordered was sauteed Fish Rock Cod with Asparagus over rice. To your ears, that sounds incredibly healthy. But my dad made a comment about how much oil they use to cook my dish. To my surprise, the gravy didn’t look fattening at all, but I felt it sitting in my stomach for a long time many hours after leaving the restaurant. My stomach was screaming INDIGESTION!!!! It turns out that restaurant cooked what should have been a low fat healthy meal with too much oil. And I didn’t realize it just by looking at it. My father who happens to be a Chinese herbalist brought it to my attention.
In my opinion, they should not call it the 40-30-30 diet with the last number reflecting the percentage of fats because fats cannot be measured in terms of percentages with the naked eye. That is why right now there is a weight loss program that ships the food prepackaged with macronutrients matching those specific percentages in that particular order. It takes technology in order to accomplish that. And those foods are expensive. Talk about the weight loss diet of the rich and famous! Can you see yourself eating delicious prepackaged meals delivered to your home everyday? If you can, go for it. But for most people who likes to eat out, this program would not work. That is enough emotional rambling for today. Now let’s get to the good stuff: How to achieve a higher quality colon cleansing on a meatless diet for ageless skin and effortless weight loss.
For breakfast, you would eat only fruits on an empty stomach leading up to lunch time. Have as much fruit as you desire. Don’t worry about the calories. Just don’t OVEREAT FRUIT or UNDER EAT FRUIT. Eat to be satiated.
If you are not in the mood for fruits, drink freshly squeezed fruit juices. And that does not concentrated juices you buy in a typical supermarket. Those are pasteurized juices that have no enzymes in them. And enzymes are critical for the intestinal cleansing process. As a matter of fact, there are markets that are springing up all over the place where they have this special juice machine that takes fresh oranges and squeeze the juice out of them. The juice is automatically poured into a bottle for you on the spot. I ordered a half gallon one time which is two quart size bottles.
Another alternative is to go to Safeway or any other supermarket to buy a big bottle of Odwalla Superfood juice. I would say that is the most nutritious close-to-freshly squeezed assortment of juices you can buy that are already pre bottled. It contains an assortment of apple juice, peaches, mangoes, strawberry and banana puree, spiruline, soy lecithin, vitamin C, wheat grass, barley grass, wheat sprouts, Jerusalem artichokes, lemon bioflavonoid and Nova Scotia Dulse. Wow!! If you are not excited about these ingredients, then you are not a health nut like I am. And plus, this juice tastes so darn good!!!
A point I like to make about Odwalla products is that they are flash pasteurized juices. I bring this up for fear of those extreme detox experts criticizing my horrible choice of juices that are not pasteurized. Of course, anything that has been pasteurized is robbed of nutrient rich enzymes. Odwalla Juice company puts all their juices through a 5 second flash pasteurization procedure. Although I would rather have them not pasteurize it at all period, but hey, we do not live in a perfect world. I am not a perfectionist. Having an ounce of a gold nugget is better than having none at all. Right?
I truly foresee in the near future Jamba Juice smoothie stores rolling out with a similar version to Odwalla SuperGreen Food once the world catches on how delicious these drinks are. And if you think wheat grass and barley grass tastes nasty, Odwalla did a great job making it very droolingly delicious.
Okay, after eating your fruits or fruit juices up till lunch, your body should now be ready for some good clean food for lunch. Remember, on this day, you are abstaining from meat. And also to remind you that no eggs, cheese or dairy products are allowed. The reason why for that is, although they are not classified as meats, they cause digestive impairment in the presence of starches. Since we do not live in a perfect world, most restaurants serves salad dressings that contain a little bit of dairy, like for example, Ranch dressing. If you can, try to avoid it and go for dairy-free salad dressings instead.
Have your big plate of meatless salad prior to your main vegetarian meal. Your vegetarian meals can be veggie sandwiches, veggie pasta dishes, veggie burritos, or veggie chow mein. Chow mein? Isn’t chow mein unhealthy?..you ask…It is healthy when you eat it in a proper way, like for example preceding it with a plate of vegetables- fresh, steamed, or sauteed. And vegetarian chow mein already has a lot of vegetables in them. The goal is to have a perfect balance of vegetables and starches. The best way to picture this is to imagine one plate filled with vegetables and another same size plate filled with your main vegetarian dish. 50/50 balance.
I go to this Chinese restaurant where I see this same American man always ordering a plate of steamed Chinese broccoli (called Gai Lan, in Cantonese) as an appetizer to precede his main dish. Every time I see him, I just smile to myself knowing that he is just another health nut like me who knows the secret of how to increase his consumption of vegetables at every meal. Just like when you go to a Korean restaurant, they start you off with a plate of Kim Chee cabbage which is spicy cabbage as an appetizer before they bring out their main dishes.
And the good part of this is that vegetarian meals stay in your stomach for only three hours. And as a mid snack, have more fruit or fruit juices to hold you till dinner. And at dinner, you will repeat the process of your vegetarian meals like you had for lunch. So there you go. Abstaining from meat for one day is not bad considering that there are enormous variety of delicious vegetarian foods you can choose from throughout the day.
If you think this detox ritual is tolerable to you, well, wait till the next post, where I am going to take your detoxification to a much higher level. And in this detox diet plan, I am going to ask you to abstain from starches and meat together just for one day. And remember to do this on a warm day. In my previous post, I elaborated in detail about the simple gradual process of modifying your diet with the foods you love to achieve not only maximum weight loss but also radiantly beautiful skin that you always dream of having. Today I am going to talk about a more advanced colon cleansing program with your favorite foods that is much more sustainable than all the other programs out there that painfully deprive you of nutrients your body needs. This advanced form of detoxification gives you the best of both worlds. First, cleaning out your system more thoroughly without stripping your body of nutrients as in the case of most detox programs that leave you feeling tired and feeling sluggish. This is all based on the yin and yang principles of Chinese medicine.
In the previous post I talked about how difficult it is to make the transition from poor eating habits to good one. It is like asking you to give up Pizza overnight and that is extremely hard to do especially when pizza is part of your daily meal routine. I am referring to those people who suffer from pizza addiction. I know a few friends of mine who fall under this category. They just simply cannot go without pizza for a day.
And before you are wondering how can these people follow the detoxification principles of a good colon cleansing program centered around the power of fruits eaten on an empty stomach? And also how can they follow the principles of proper food combining of not mixing starches with meats as in the case of pizza?
Pizza has both meats and starch and pizza is an example of improper food combining. Even though if you decide to have vegetarian pizza thinking that would solve the problem with food compatibility issues, just to let you know , cheese cannot be digested effectively in the presence of starches. Cheese goes well with salads and other vegetables, but not with starches. So instead of telling a pizza addict that give up the pizza, I would advise them to precede all their pizza meals with a big plate of salad or vegetables. This is what I refer to as a modified version of a beginner’s level detox diet plan. The concept behind this practice is to flood your body with nutrient rich digestive enzymes that paves the way for digesting your favorite pizza. I know that this is not the best way to digest a meal but it is better to minimize the negative effects of an undigested food.
I know you are right now wondering how on earth can I call this unorthodox eating strategy an effective detox diet plan especially involving the foods you love that you are supposed to be avoiding. The point I am try to make is that we are all human and we all suffer from unhealthy food cravings. Fried Chicken and greasy chow mein used to be my main staple, but it took me a while to give those foods up on a daily basis. I don’t mean to say that I am giving up fried chicken in my diet completely but I include them as part of my cheat meals which I can enjoy when I have an occasional craving for it, like for example, once every week or two. And I make sure I precede those meals with a big plate of salad or vegetables. It is a habit I have adopted and I am positive you will see a tremendous improvement in digestion and levels of detoxification.
Would you rather have undigested food trapped in your intestines resulting in constipation which is the cause of all skin problems associated with different forms of major health problems? Or would you want that molded food out of your system to prevent those toxins from being excreted through other channels of elimination, like for example your skin? I am not trying to say the food you eat is molded. But when it stays trapped in your intestinal tract for more than a day, it is a lot worse than the moldy condition of food.
Women who have radiantly beautiful skin rarely suffer from any constipation symptoms because they eat a properly combined meal most of the time. My sister Winny gets a lot of compliments from the people at her job about her smooth skin and she always tells me how they never stop bugging her for beauty secrets. They all think that she gets facials on a regular basis or uses some kind of secret Asian skin care product that they don’t know about. I even asked her myself on many occasions what products she is using currently that was the key to her flawless complexion. The reason why I ask is because she is always experimenting with new products all the time. And I consider her a guinea pig for any kind of new ageless skin care product that she is being introduced to by her friends who work at the Skin Care counter of major department stores like Macy’s, Sephora, etc.
And despite the fact that my sister Winny uses many different types of skin care products, she always tells me one critical piece of information that is worth more than a weight in gold. And that is no matter how good the skin care product is, if you do not follow an eat clean diet, you will be a victim of poor skin tone.
I even had the nerve to ask her how many times a day does she go to the bathroom or have a bowel evacuation. I know , to you, it sounds rather weird for me to ask my sister these personal questions. She already knows that I am a freak when it comes to constipation relief. I was always paranoid of having any kind of skin blemishes and still am today. This was a result of me being a victim of acne throughout my life leading up to my Thirties where it all stopped when I adopted a whole new approach to eating thanks to the Fit For Life book by Harvey Diamond.
Speaking on the subject of going to the bathroom, Winny tells me she goes a minimum of twice a day. Sometimes three times at most. And just to let you know, in case you are wondering, she does not take laxatives at all. Never has and never will. She is a product of proper food combining. She always told me that no matter how many facials you have, you will never achieve the skin tone you desire if you don’t make an effort to change your diet. She has told me the countless number of times she has gotten facials in the past only to be frustrated to see her skin looking horrible the following day as a result of constipation emanating from poor eating habits. Your skin is the barometer of your intestinal health. Chinese medicine books clarifies this point distinctly.
She told me when you are constipated as a result of not eating a properly combined meal, those toxins that couldn’t come out on the usual end in the form of a bowel movement are excreted through your skin. Your skin is also an organ of elimination just like your kidneys, liver, colon, and lungs. So now I hope by now you realize the importance of easy digestion of a properly combined meal.
Since this post is about advanced detoxification utilizing your favorite foods, I will reveal my sister’s eating habits that she has adopted into her daily regimen. You can use this as a guideline to incorporate this into your own program of advanced colon cleansing. But don’t worry!! This program will not force you to give up the foods you love. You will find it very relieving to realize that most of the foods you love will be part of your skin detox and weight loss program.
My sister, unlike me, eats a light breakfast consisting of oatmeal or sometimes a bowl of cereal with soy milk. But she fills up her bowl with generous amounts of blueberries, strawberries, and raspberries along with a teaspoon of flaxseed. In this case, she is breaking the rule of proper food combining. Remember how I said that fruits must be eaten on an empty stomach. But because what she is eating is considered healthy, I would presume that it is okay because it works for her. She is not like me who eat 5 to 6 fruits in the morning on an empty stomach. Different strokes for different folks. If you are trying to lose weight fast the healthy way, I would highly recommend eating fruit on empty stomach instead.
That is my sister’s usual breakfast pattern. When she gets hungry in midmorning, she tells me she would eat an orange or a peach to hold her till lunch. Then at lunch, she has a big bowl of salad that she created herself. What is so interesting is that she has won a loyal following from her peers on the concept of healthy skin diet. They would each bring something healthy from home. Some would bring celery. Some would bring tomatoes. Some cheese and nuts. My sister would bring the healthy chicken strips. And so forth. My sister would bring a huge salad bowl where they all pitch in with their assortment of vegetables to create this huge serving of salad for everyone involved. Kind of like a Vegetable potluck. But this was an everyday occasion. That is how devoted they are.
So by eating salads and vegetables which is compatible with any kind of meat, cheese and nuts is a perfect example of a meal for good digestive health. And in case you didn’t know, digestive health is also a barometer for healthy skin.
So to break it down very simply, my sister’s eating strategy is a more advanced form of detoxification without the use of the many as-seen-on-tv colon cleansing products like Dual Action Cleanse, Dr. Natura’s Colonix, or the Seven Day Miracle Cleanse, all of which I have personally used myself. And do you notice how she is naturally detoxifying her body with her favorite foods. But there is one thing I left out that you will find very surprising. Although my sister eats a healthy breakfast and lunch, but for dinner, she pigs out just like all of us on foods she loves at extravagant restaurants. So in other words, her dinner is her cheat meal. And on those few occasions it would be pizza. Hah!! I surprised you.
And she still manages to be able to maintain her age defying radiantly beautiful complexion despite the cheat meals she has almost every day. So the point I am trying to make here is that if you crave a hamburger or pizza, save that till dinner instead. This will allow you to focus on eating a healthy breakfast and lunch. Then for dinner, eat whatever you like. But don’t forget the rule of preceding your favorite meal with a plate of vegetables to pave the way for optimized digestion. This way of eating is a lot more bearable and sustainable than all the other colon cleansing programs out there in the marketplace that forces you to abstain from your favorite foods for days. And that would be more like a yo yo detox diet syndrome. Consistency is the name of the game.
In the next post, I will talk more in detail about other effective methods of detoxification involving your favorite foods. But this time, I will take the detoxification principles up a notch more. Remember I am giving you simple baby steps to follow where the element of pressure or stress is non existent.
As long as you are cleaning up on the front end, as in the case of breakfast and lunch, what you eat for dinner shouldn’t really matter if you are starting out at a beginner’s level detox program and gradually easing your way into a more advanced level of detoxification.

In my previous post, I focused deeply on eating strategies for high energy weight loss designed for people who have insatiable fast food addiction. I spent a great deal of time talking about very specific lunch eating strategies built around your favorite fast food. Today, I am going to cover the dinner eating strategies part of equation whether it is fast food or dining out at your favorite extravagant restaurant. The strategies entailed will not only focus on just it’s weight loss benefits but also the natural ageless skin care that comes from the nutrient assimilation of the hard to digest foods we naturally crave.
Hopefully by now, you are now incorporating the principles of eating a high water content rich salads or steamed vegetables prior to eating your favorite fast foods like Pizza, hamburgers, hot dogs, and other junk food. The whole purpose of this exercise is to slowly prepare you for the arena of developing a natural healthy craving for healthy food. The goal is to slowly move into eating vegetables with starchy foods which is a perfect example of a properly combined meal for easy digestion. Vegetarian pasta, vegetarian sandwiches, vegetarian burritos, and vegetarian noodle soups would all fall under this category.
Let’s say you are beginning to developing a healthy craving for these vegetarian pastas. Regardless of this impressive change in dietary habit that you can eventually take pride in, you should still continue to precede all your solid vegetarian meals with your usual big bowl of salad or vegetable dish. The whole purpose is to fill your stomach with nutrient rich digestive enzymes coming from the salads to aid in digestion of solid food that fall under the category of a proper food combining. By starting your meal with a big bowl of salad, you reduce the amount of starch consumption by a great deal which equate to relieving a bloated stomach. And to remind you again, a properly combined meal equates to eating meats only with vegetables ONLY and NOT with starches.
If you crave meat like a hamburger for lunch or dinner, just have it without the bun. But first, you must eat your big bowl of salad before indulging in your meat eating ritual. This same salad eating strategy would apply to all kinds of meats you could possibly crave, like for example, steaks, pork chops, meat loaf, fish, ham, duck, and etc. Eggs would fall under the category of meats even though it is technically vegetarian. Eggs are incredibly hard to digest. Meats have a much better digestibility than eggs. So if you happen to crave scrambled eggs, you know exactly what to do before you have them. You need as much digestive strength as you can muster.
I don’t know how on earth can Olympic Swimming champion Michael Phelps down eight eggs in one sitting. If you are following the Olympics, you should be aware of his gargantuan eating habits. He is an example of a person who has excellent digestive strength due to the calorie-burning extreme physical exertion of his swimming activities. Exercises aids in digestion. Sedentary activities like working behind a computer does not.
Have you noticed a few hours after eating a big meal, you have developed slightly bad breath symptoms especially if your job involves sedentary activities with moderate levels of concentration, like for example, computer work? That is because the blood that is needed to digest your meal has been drawn away to feed your brain for intense mental concentration. I bet you if you do a study on the number of breath mints consumed in office work environment compared to physical work environment like construction, the office work environment wins hands down without a doubt. I am not trying to perpetuate a stereotype about office workers. I happen to be one of them myself.
Bad breath and radiant beauty are not synonymous. Women who have radiantly beautiful skin eat perfectly digestible meals like lots of salads or steamed vegetables. And these women who do a lot of computer work never have to worry about digestive impairment of an improper food combining. They rarely suffer from bad breath at all. And it is not because they cover it up with breath mints. Digestive enzymes in the form of salads or any high water content vegetables alleviates digestive burden.
Do you want more proof? Go eat a high fat meal like a hamburger and then return to your computer work or your intense scholastic studies, and you will be developing bad breath symptoms. In my previous post, I talked about the enhanced detoxification experiences you should be aware of when you undergo a detox diet plan of fruits on an empty stomach in the morning and the proper food combining of proteins/vegetables in one meal or vegetables/starches in another for optimized digestion in your pursuit for rapid weight loss. I mentioned also that the unpleasant symptoms like frequent bowel movements should not be mistaken as diarrhea and that it is part of your body’s natural colon cleansing process. In this post I am cover in detail a very effective plan for a properly combined meal for those victims of fast food addiction.
Even I myself become susceptible to the unhealthy cravings of cheat meals like pizza, fried chicken, chow mein and Carnitas (greasy fried pork) burritos. Despite these occasional urges, I will show you how you can continue to have these cheat meals once in a while without suffering from the after effects of sluggishness that accompanies rapid weight gain.
In my previous posts, I spoke extensively of why mixing proteins and starches is forbidden due to their digestive impairment characteristics. Hydrochloric acid that is required to digest proteins is arrested in the presence of starches. Alkalies that are needed to digest starches becomes dysfunctional in the presence in proteins.
Right now you are wondering how you can eat a properly combined meal especially if you eat out a lot. The typical food choices you are presented with all the time are sandwiches, salads, soups, pasta dishes, burritos, hot dogs, hamburgers, and etc., regardless of what ethnic origin those foods are tied to.
Sandwiches, hot dogs, and hamburgers fall under the category of an improper food combining due to the protein starch combination. Pasta can be ordered without meat. I have had vegetarian burritos on occasion and meatless noodle soups. Rarely do you see people ordering a vegetarian sandwiches because it is not very appealing to the eyes. Can you picture a sandwich without meat? A sandwich filled with tomatoes and lettuce would make the bread incredibly soggy. And the fact that restaurants charge you the same price for it as a meat-filled sandwich is highway robbery. Even charging you 50 cents less still puts you, the occasional vegetarian sandwich eater, at a disadvantage.
I have had a vegetarian sandwich on a few occasions and believe me a soggy sandwich is not appealing to the taste buds. Some restaurant chefs have tried to resolve that with toasted breads, but you still end up with a soggy toasted sandwich. That is why it will be nice if they came up with a toasted bread pocket that would solve the problems of sogginess facing vegetarian sandwiches. Kind of like a pitta pocket but in a toasted bread form. I know it is wishful thinking on my part. A toasted bread pocket tastes a lot better to me than a pitta pocket. Maybe it is because I love the texture and crunchiness of toasts. Please let me know if some major bread manufacturer decides to make it. I will be the first one to buy it. Stuffing tomatoes, lettuce, avocados, bean sprouts, and an assortment of vegetables into a toasted bread pocket along with a huge servings of mayonnaise already have me salivating at the thought of it.
Now let’s get back on track and talk about how you can plan your fast food meals around the principles of proper food combining as part of your effective weight loss strategy. Let’s say you have your generous helping of fruits in the morning. And by lunch time, you are already craving a burrito with or pizza. In this example neither food choices are vegetarian.
This is a common tendency in the beginning stages of your cleansing program. It is kind of like going for days without food and then you have this insatiable hunger for some real food. It is as if you were held prisoner to a room full of fruits for one day and then the next day you are released to have whatever you want. I know this sounds like I am going overboard with this . But you will know what I am talking about if you had fasted for days on liquids ALONE. When you come out of a liquid fast, you start going on a binge eating craze with your favorite food.
But going without your usual breakfast of Egg McMuffin, bacon and eggs is not that bad compared to a week long fast. Come on now. You can do it. You cannot possibly go hungry on a morning fruit fast. If you are craving heavy foods in mid morning, just do your best to save it till lunch time. Then you can breathe a sigh of relief. LUNCH TIME AT LAST!!!! Once you develop the habit of the morning fruit fast, you will gradually begin to crave healthier foods.
Now lunch time comes around and you happen to be at Togo’s, McDonald, or Round Table Pizza. You are now wondering how on earth can you plan your fat-burning meal around these fast food restaurants. I know most of you heavy meat eaters do not like the vegetarian Pizza. And cheese, in case you didn’t know, is very hard to digest in the presence of starches and should therefore be eaten with vegetables like salads, etc. I know in the beginning it is incredibly difficult to make that transition to vegetarian from meat-atarian. Or transitioning from a meat/starch combo to a meat/vegetable only combo.
So here is your game plan for everyday for the rest of your life if you can manage it. If you decide to have pizza for that day, I would highly recommend that you order a big plate of salad prior to eating your slice of pizza. The water content in salads will keep you energized and fill your stomach with nutrient rich digestive enzymes necessary to digest the energy-depriving pizza. And by the time you are done, you will not be able to eat as much pizza. Despite not eating a perfectly healthy meal, you, at least, made a minimal effort to include high water content vegetables to counter the effects of the toxins in junk food. And pizza is junk food by the way.
Let’s say you crave a hamburger. Have a big bowl of salad prior to eating the hamburger. And luckily, most burger fast food joints do carry salads as most of them are jumping on the eat-healthy promotional bandwagon to save themselves of any ounce of dignity for being a regular contributor to people’s rising cholesterol problems. Some of you may say what happens if you decide you crave a hot dog at Wienersnitzels. And correct me if I am wrong, I don’t believe that joint carries any salads at all. If they do, I will be darn surprise. It is almost like going to Basket Robins to order a salad to go with the ice cream.
So prior to eating your hot dog at Wienersnitzels, start off with big bowl of salad. This type of eating habit is just a start to a new beginning of your pursuit of health and rapid weight loss without the need of any diet pills or appetite suppressants that do nothing more than weaken your immune system. I cover more on that topic in a later post.
So the main objective of this post is to not take away the foods you crave and love, but to develop the habit of moderating portion sizes by starting off your meal with a healthy bowl of salad. That is what I always do when I crave an incompatible meal like a meat sandwich. (Remember starches and meats eaten together retards digestion).
My friends occasionally have barbecues, and that is the only time when I really eat a lot of meat. I am not really big meat eater. But every time before I sample their delicious chickens, hot dogs, and other delicious meats on the grill, I always start my off with a big bowl of salad or steamed vegetables. This is an example of how I occasionally deviate from the proper food combining strategy.
Just realize that developing healthy eating habits for maximum weight loss is an art that takes time to master. By taking baby steps, one day at a time, you will gradually develop a craving for more healthier food and better eating habits, all of which will transform to high levels of fat-burning energy.
In this post I only covered the lunch aspect of your eating plan. In the next post I will discuss your eating plan for the dinner side of the equation. I can guarantee you that if you follow these eating strategies in any way that suits your comfort zone, you will see the dramatic changes in your overall health and your physique in terms of inches off your waist.

In my previous post, I demystified your concern about counting calories in fruit and how that doesn’t really equate to rapid weight gain if you follow my carefully-laid out program of eating high water content fruits on an empty stomach, and not emulsifying it with your hard to digest foods like a steak and bake potato meal. Today I am going to go into great detail on the type of physical transformation you will excitably notice and awareness of your enhanced detoxification experiences in your well defined journey into accelerated weight loss.
You should be aware that fruit calories is not important because the detoxifying nature behind the power of fruits would supersede it in terms of easy weight loss. Fruits do not require any digestive energy whatsoever. Anything that drains you of energy are hard to digest foods like the typical egg McMuffin, or bacon, hash browns and coffee that most people indulge on in the early morning hours as their main source of fuel for the body. Now do you know why you feel sluggish early in the morning and the possibly extending in the wee hours of the afternoon. That is because the blood that is needed to digest your fatty breakfast meal is being drawn away from your brain. And to make matters worse, if your job involves high levels of concentration, it will even result in slow digestion. So that is like a double whammy for your energy levels and whatever levels of fat burning metabolism that your body could barely muster given the circumstances of your digestive impairment.
It will be nice if you could step away from your desk to take a walk for the purpose of optimized digestion. Construction workers, for example, can get away from eating a high fat meal and not have to worry about any kind of digestive impairment whatsoever given their sweaty activities. Although I am not discounting the number of obese construction workers in the workplace. An overweight construction worker is in much condition to digest a fatty meal than a sedentary office worker.
When I said that your digestion of a fatty meal was affected by the intensely high levels of mental concentration, this mostly apply to office workers and students because their jobs involve a lot of thinking and problem solving. Not to say that construction workers are not in the same situation, but their work habits do not require any effective problem solving skills at all due to the monotonous nature of typical construction work. In other words, construction workers don’t have to think as hard as students studying for the test.
My father the herbalist had educated me on the eventual health hazards of chasing down a big fatty meal with ample reserves of intense mental concentration, like for example, studying for a big exam. No wonder so many people have stomach ailments or health problems arising from lack of proper digestion. According to the principles of Chinese medicine, your digestive chi plays a crucial role in how your body effectively metabolizes food for energy and how it is stored as fat.
And as I am writing this post, I am eating at the moment two orders of Chicken Caesar Salad that I ordered from Togo’s Restaurant. And this is a perfect example of proper food combining that will not affect my digestive capabilities given the intense concentration I have to exert in writing this post. I am a big eater by the way. I cannot get satiated on one order of Togo’s salad.
I am just giving you a brief overview of how your digestive chi plays a crucial role in easy weight loss. Since this post is about educating you on the types of changes and physical reactions you should be aware of as a result of enhanced detoxification through a program of a properly combined meal, I will cover more on that topic of digestive chi later on. By this I mean eating fruits only on an empty stomach in the morning, and for the rest of the day, not mixing your meats with starch.
A lot of people embarking on this natural weight loss program have told me that the conditions were unbearable in the beginning such as diarrhea like symptoms that come naturally as a result of a morning-only fruit detox diet. That is because their body is already toxic from the accumulation of toxins in the beginning and the fact that they have made a drastic change in their morning diet, their bodies are adapting to this change. And given the fact that digestive energy is NOT needed for fruit consumption, their bodies can immediately utilize the high energy calories derived from the fruit pulp fiber itself through its colon cleansing form of detoxification.

In my previous post, I talked most about the importance of a properly combined meal as to how it relates to accelerated weight loss. Today I am going to cover something that is so controversial regarding the calorie counting theory and how that idea is doomed to failure from it’s inception. Anybody that tells you that fruits are high in calories and you shouldn’t eat too much of them has not really gone beyond the traditional way of thinking into a territory of the unlikely embraced principles of detox weight loss programs based on the cleansing power of fruits themselves irrespective of their high energy-giving calories in this high energy diet. What I am going delve into deeply is the demystification of fruit calories to calm people’s fears of rapid weight gain.
Remember I said previously that you can eat as much fruit as you want in the morning on an empty stomach leading up to lunch time? Most people will say to me that fruits are not filling and they will get hungry very fast. My answer to them is continue to eat enough fruits until you are satiated given the satiating power of fruits. Don’t eat to be full. The perfect rule of thumb taken from Fruit Detox guru Harvey Diamond is NEVER OVEREAT FRUIT and NEVER UNDER EAT FRUIT. And believe me, when he says don’t overeat, I know what he means. You will learn how to overcome overeating easily as you follow this program.
I remember once making the mistake of stuffing myself in one sitting of eight fruits consisting of 1 orange, a pear, 2 peaches, a grapefruit, one apple, and two bananas early in the morning. The reason for that is because I didn’t want to face the inconvenience of carrying those fruits with me on the road. The thought of me carrying a bag of fruits was embarrassing in itself. I remembered people asking me were those a week’s worth of groceries. What am I supposed to them? No, there for an entire morning’s consumption which would make me look like a extreme nut case, and not a health nut. Even avid health nuts don’t take fruit consumption to the extreme like I do.
Getting back to what happened as a result of stuffing my face with 8 fruits in one sitting resulting in stomach cramps and frequent trips to the you know what. In a way, I thought that was a faster way of detoxifying your body. But really, I was detoxifying way too fast and if I continued on that path, I would have been incredibly frail. My father the herbalist told me that detoxification has to be taken in steps. And given the cooling nature of fruits, it can extinguish your digestive fire.
I know you are wondering what the heck am I talking about? Digestive fire? Digestive fire is a term in traditional Chinese medicine to describe the temperature of your digestive system and how an excessive Yin condition as opposed to Yang can weaken your immune function. You have probably heard of yin and yang, but you don’t know how it applies to foods. Yang stands for heat, and Yin stands for the coldness. I will give you an example. Meats are considered yang foods given their warm nature. And fruits and vegetables are considered yin foods due to their cold nature.
I know most of you are thinking that fruits are not cold unless you refrigerate them, right? No, not exactly. From a Chinese medicine standpoint, they are categorized as a cold food which is designed to offset the warming nature of foods like meats, toast, baked goods and etc. Our bodies are constantly striving to maintain a balance of Yang and Yin. Have you ever noticed that your eyes are red and you have sore gums occasionally? That is a result of eating way too many warming foods and not enough cold foods like vegetables to offset the internal heat in your system resulting from overconsumption of warm foods. Acne, skin problems, excessively oily skin, dry skin, bad breath symptoms, digestive disorders, headaches, inflammation syndrome, anger, constipation, stomach problems, are symptoms of excessive Yang in your body. And that was the type of condition I had a long time ago as a result of eating way too many fried foods and chow mein and not enough vegetables and fruits which had made me a victim of acne. I was a victim of excessive Yang symptoms. My sister on the other hand is a victim of excessive Yin because she loves to eat salads all day and hardly any warming foods like meats.
Since this post is about the demystification of the calories in fruits, I will talk more about the Yin and Yang in future posts. I am just giving you the tip of the ice burg of more weight loss secrets to be disclosed based on the implementation of the Yin and Yang principle of a proper diet to follow in the upcoming posts.
Getting back to the point of eating fruits in one heavy sitting was an extreme form of detoxification that is so brutal to most people but not to me. But eventually I put a stop to it thanks to my dad, and took on the Fruit till noon approach which is eating as many fruits as you desire but only do so when you feel hungry or thirsty. Since fruits stay in your stomach a half hour, eating a fruit every half hour is not overwhelming compared to the extreme self-torturing example I have given above. And what I noticed that eating green apples, especially Granny Smith ones, is a better natural appetite suppressant than most fruits. Eating fruits is an experimental process. You just to have to find what kind of fruit combinations are right for you.
I know of a lady friend of mine who eats fruit salads every morning ever since I told her of the weight loss benefits of the Fruit Till Noon approach. That is a great way to get your daily assortment of fruits in one morning. Now she has her kids adopting that approach. She would prepare her kids a bowl of fruit salad before she sends them off to school. She told me that instead of having her kids drink milk in the morning, they do it in the afternoon so they could benefit from the fruit nutrition that they really need in the morning. Nothing makes me happier and prouder than seeing friends of mine adopting this principle of correct fruit consumption and taking it a step further by instilling those values in their children.
Regardless of how many fruits you eat in the morning, you shouldn’t be worried about counting calories. All weight loss experts and personal trainers will tell you what they learned in class. Energy in equals energy out. I know that theory just stinks like rotten eggs. And I will prove it to you.
I used to be a Certified Personal Fitness Trainer at 24 Hour fitness back in 1997-2000, and I have taken the courses and I discovered what was taught in nutrition class conflicts with the principles of detoxification. At that time when I was a personal trainer, colon cleansing or any topic of detoxification was incredibly foreign. No one knew about it or at least talked about it. Did you see Klee Irwin on TV infomercials at that time talking about the graphic nature of a healthy bowel movement? This was back in 1997.
At that time, people were focused on weight loss through cutting calories, increasing protein intake, and increasing the frequency and intensity of your workouts. What personal trainers fail to address is that everyone’s body is different. And they cannot explain how a person like me who can eat like a pig and never gain a single pound, compared to an overweight person who barely eats and continues to struggle with weight loss. Everyone’s metabolism is different based on either the nature of their body chemistry or the gradual intensity of their workout routines. Now you are probably wondering how can an overweight person eat fruit all morning without gaining weight since fruits are quote-end-quote “HIGH IN CALORIES”.
To put it in a nut shell, fruits, like I have said before, do not require digestion. One Granny Smith Apple contains about 80 calories. A peach contains about pretty much the same. Every calorie counting book you read shows variations in the numbers. The point being is that an average fruit is about close to a 100 calories. Bananas maybe a little more. But the point I want to reiterate again is fruits are easier to digest than an Egg McMuffin with hash browns. In other words, I rather eat 8 fruits in one morning which combine to a total of about almost 800 calories instead eating a fatty meal of bacon and hash browns consisting about the same amount of calories which will stay and rot in your stomach for about 8 hours leaving you feeling sluggish and groggy. And you already know that sluggishness leads to weight gain.
I am not a scientist or statistician and I find quantifying the energy value of food in terms of calories is ridiculous in itself when it comes to applying it to your weight loss programs.
I know what the diabetics are going to say. I cannot eat fruits. My answer to them is yes you can. Just stay away from the bananas, and focus on fruits that are low in the glycemic index like Granny Smith apples. Fruit detoxification principles do not discriminate against overweight people or anyone who claims they are allergic to fruit. Fruit consumption is a habit you should develop gradually and it will take a lot of getting used to. I make it a part of my daily morning routine. As I am typing this post, I just finished my fourth Granny Smith Apple at 10:25 Pacific Time to be exact.
Fruits are designed to heal your body if you consume them correctly. The diseases that most people are afflicted with today are result of poor food choices. Too much processed foods. Cookies, Cakes, breads, meats, hot dogs, potato chips, and you name it. The body can only get to a certain point where it cannot handle the toxic overload of what I call junk food. Now do you see why people complain about headaches and other ailments especially weight gain?
Now do yourself a favor, and throw away all those latest updated calorie counting books that come out every frickin’ year. Or at least rip out the calorie counting section for the fruits. Enjoy proper food consumption without having to stress out any more because you forgot to put your calorie-counting calculator in your purse or pocket.
