Accelerated Detoxification Principles Behind Chinese Tongue Diagnosis For Colon Cleanliness And Radiant Skin Health

In the previous post , I talked in extremely great detail about the important role the Yin and Yang diet plays on your digestive system health and how your skin health is a reflection of digestive health. I also highlighted the most important factor with regard to a healthy eating routine is to understand the cooking process of foods and how they also play a role in minimizing symptoms of intestinal heat constipation especially for people who suffer from acne prone skin, a symptom that a lot of popular colon cleansing products on the market don’t address. In other words, eating steamed foods are a lot healthier than eating grilled foods with steam foods being the Yin foods (cooling) and grilled foods being the Yang foods (hot) which is the entire basis behind the Yin and Yang diet plan. So the principles of accelerated detoxification solely rests on your ability to develop a healthy eating balance of both Yin and Yang type food in your diet and using a Chinese tongue diagnosis procedure to check for signs of potential acne-causing internal heat symptoms reflected in the color of your tongue coating. And that is what I am going to talk about today.

If you suffer from any type of skin ailment ranging from acne, pimples, Rosacea, excessively oily skin, oily acne prone skin, dry skin, dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis, you need to implement the Yin and Yang diet into your healthy eating plan. Let me go into great detail about Yin and Yang foods. Although I talked about it briefly in the previous post, I never gave you a detailed comparison of what they are.

I spoke about how excessive intake of Yang foods (like fried foods) causes all kinds of skin problems. And not only that, it also affects your overall health. In case you didn’t know, your skin health is a reflection of the Yin and Yang balance of all your organs: Liver, Lungs, Spleen, Heart, and Kidneys. And the foods you eat in terms of the Yin and Yang elements associated with it has a tremendous impact on your overall health. In case you didn’t know, a Chinese herbalist can look at your face and can diagnose your symptoms pretty accurately and determine what type of minor health problems you may be suffering at the moment that is not considered serious.

For example, let’s say you are currently feeling sluggish. An herbalist, such as my dad, can look at your face and determine that you are suffering from lack of Kidney chi. What? Kidney Chi? I am just using this as an actual example. As a matter of fact, my sister occasionally suffers from Kidney chi deficiency. And in the previous posts, I told you how she watches her diet carefully and eats what I consider to be an almost perfectly healthy diet that reflects the principles of daily detoxification. But still to this day she suffers from that kind of digestive health ailment.

Let me give you an example of what I am talking about. As you should be aware that I talked about my sister’s healthy diet routine in the prior posts and right now you are probably scratching your heads wondering how on earth can what appears to be a very healthy woman suffer from minor symptoms of Yin and Yang imbalance. That is exactly what my sister suffers from constantly, and I told her about what types of food in diet she needs to include to offset those minor side effects of kidney chi deficiency. But she still ignores me because she is so obsessed with maintaining beautiful skin that she is so worried that the slightest intake of Yang foods will ruin her perfect complexion. Don’t get me wrong. That is what overconsumption of Yang foods tend to do. And when I tell my sister to include Yang foods in her diet, I don’t mean fried chicken!

Let me give you an example of what types of Yang health foods to eat. In the previous post, I mentioned that Yang foods reflect the cooking process of FRIED, GRILLED, ROASTED, PAN FRIED, AND BAKED. And Yin foods reflected the cooking process of STEAMED AND BOILED. An obviously you can draw your own conclusion that steamed and boiled is the healthy cooking method because the Yin elements in food (water content) are retained. And the Yang cooking methods (Fried, grilled, roasted, pan fried, and baked) strip water out of the food. Now you can see why eating too many Yang foods can cause inflammation if you don’t balance it with Yin foods. The Yin and Yang that I am talking in this paragraph only relates to the Yin and Yang cooking method and NOT the Yin and Yang characteristics of the actual food itself. I am going to cover that now.

My sister suffers from kidney chi deficiency because she consumes a lot of vegetables. And vegetables regardless of how they are cooked are considered Yin foods. Vegetables cool the body. Whereas meats like chicken (even steamed chicken) warms the body. Chicken is technically still a Yang food regardless of it’s Yin cooking method of steaming. These are the natural Yin and Yang characteristics of the food itself that mother nature gave it before you even talk about how to cook it with all the methods I have disclosed.

When I told my sister that she needs to include more Yang foods to offset her Yang deficiency conditions, I meant including more natural Yang foods like Ginger spices that she can add to her salads to balance the Yin and Yang conditions of her body. I will go into detail about that in the future posts.

In the previous post, I emphasized that eating too many Yang foods can cause skin related problems and a host of other biological health disorders such as intestinal heat constipation. But you are now probably shocked at the fact that you can also suffer from other common types of illness by the overindulgence of Yin foods, like vegetables. While eating too many Yang foods will send you in a heating uproar, eating too many Yin foods can have you feeling cold on a hot day.

Now let me go over Chinese tongue diagnosis as it relates to Yin and Yang symptoms. If you tend to eat a lot of Yang foods and suffer from indigestion as a result of not eating a properly combined meal or high fat meals which are hard to digest, your tongue coating will appear yellowish in texture. The thickness of your yellow tongue coating is a reflection of the amount of excessive Yang conditions in your body coupled with digestive dampness. Digestive dampness? What the hell are you talking about, Billy? Don’t worry. I will go into greater detail in future posts. But briefly, digestive dampness is a form of indigestion based on the principles of Chinese traditional medicine. It is just another digestive symptom that can worsen the underlying problem of excessive Yang conditions. Like I said, I will go in more detail in the future posts.

If your tongue coating reflects the appearance (Yellow and thick) I described in the above example, it means that you have consumed way too many Yang foods and have poor digestion. On the other hand, if you consume too many Yang foods and have good and easy digestion, your tongue will be a very bright red color with no coating at all. A normal tongue is supposed to be pink with a thin transparent white coating. As you can see, the redder your tongue, the more Yang (or fiery) you are internally. Your tongue is the barometer of digestive health in terms of Yin and Yang balance.

My recommendation is to eat more vegetables at every meal, eliminate high fat foods in your diet, and reduce your meat intake until your tongue returns to the normal pink appearance. Just remember that the redder your tongue, the more Yang you are and your need to include more Yin food in your diet.

And if your tongue is really red and has a thick yellow coating, you need to really stay away from foods that are hard to digest especially fatty foods. An excellent remedy is to maintain a starch free diet for one day. In other words, you are allowed to have moderate amounts of meat with vegetables and soups.

Detoxification Principles of Chinese Tongue Diagnosis for Severe Acne and Diet Problems, Part II

In the previous post, I talked about how the body processes food differently given the biological characteristics we were born with being transfered to us by our parents. And that explains why some of the typical hereditary health problems we face are related to digestive issues and we all have a natural tendency to take the path of least resistance by kowtowing to it, assuming that we are all a victim of this hereditary disease and there is nothing we can do about it. And that also includes severe acne that a lot of people face today. If you suffer from persistent acne, there is a good chance that one of your parents and grandparents suffered from it. This type of tendency for acne development is all reflected in our hereditary and dietary patterns that are passed down from one generation to the next. Today I am going to continue where I left off in the previous post to show you how to perform a Chinese tongue diagnosis to give you early indications of potential causes of acne symptoms that you should be aware of and alert you to implement a modification of diet to minimize the extremeness of the symptoms of toxicity that could worsen if it is not addressed early. Look at tongue diagnosis as a satellite weather map that accurately pinpoints potential skin health problems lurking in your body that the naked eye cannot see.

My dad suffered from severe acne when he was a kid, and I remembered him telling me how extreme it was and the remedies his mother would provide him as a kid. My dad grew up poor in Hong Kong. He would tell me that his diet routine consisted Chinese rice porridge for three meals a day: breakfast, lunch and dinner with small amounts of meats and vegetables. And he told how he awfully dreaded the rice soup diet as a kid, and how he would find himself drooling on many occasions when the delicious aroma of cooked food emanating from the restaurants filled his sensitive nose. I can understand how my dad felt. Surviving a diet on rice porridge is almost like going on a liquid fasting diet every day. A couple days of solely living on healthy rice soup will have you developing solid food cravings in not time.

But what he noticed was that a detox cleansing fast on rice porridge was the best way to get rid of acne fast without feeling starved. Even though he had gradually fading acne scars, he would notice an improvement in skin texture and smoother appearance. I am pretty sure you have seen women with mild acne and smooth skin. That is exactly what I am talking about.

For those of you who don’t know what rice porridge is, it is called Jook (in Cantonese). Most Chinese restaurants serve it. It is very delicious. The recipe for Rice porridge is just like cooking rice. The only difference is that you are only taking a small handful of raw rice and approximately 8 cups of water or more. And the rice is simmered on very low heat with your healthy choice of meat ( or none if you choose to abstain from meat ) for two to three hours until it becomes semi thick or soupy. You can add Chicken broth and salt to make it tasty.

The Chinese have eaten Jook traditionally to treat internal heat inflammation symptoms and colon inflammation. And internal heat symptoms are the primary causes of acne and a host of other skin problems. Internal heat symptoms? What the hell is internal heat symptoms you ask? For example, if I had you eating fried chicken for the next two days without no vegetables, you will suffer from excessive internal heat. And even if you had a lot of vegetables, you will still have it. The reason why is because Fried Chicken is cooked at extremely, extremely high temperature. According to the principles of traditional Chinese medicine, the toxic heat elements (as a result of the deep frying process) that is imbued in the chicken is transferred into your body when you consume it. Now compare that with boiled chicken where the heat temperature is very low compared to the unhealthy cooking method of fried chicken. Now do you see my point?

Consuming anything fried, grilled, roasted, barbecued, and baked, utilizes extremely high temperature unhealthy cooking practices that removes the water content from the food. Anything boiled or steamed utilizes the maximum heat temperature of water. But the only difference is that the boiled and steamed food retains water. And water cools down very fast.

Now you see why so many Americans suffer from inflammation symptoms? If you have ever been to San Francisco Chinatown, you see a lot of Americans going to the overcrowded Chinese herb shops to buy American Ginseng and a multitude of Chinese herbal remedies. I am pretty sure there are Chinatowns all over the US with the same kinds of herb shops. And you are wondering what is the purpose behind the healing power of American Ginseng? What it’s known to do is dramatically reduce internal heat that causes internal inflammation. A lot of Americans are catching on to the miraculous inflammation healing power of American Ginseng due to the nature of this extremely cooling herb to treat intestinal heat constipation. Heat constipation is a symptom where the heat in the intestines dries up the fluids resulting in dry stools. “Excuse me for being so graphic”…. the most memorable line from the infomercial of Klee Irwin, the creator of the Dual Action Cleanse colon cleansing solution.

But please do me a favor, do not mistake American Ginseng for Korean Ginseng or Chinese Ginseng. The latter two are more of a heating stimulant. They are the exact opposite of American Ginseng. Just remember that American Ginseng is a very cooling herbal extract in the form of tea.

So you can draw the conclusion that consuming Korean or Chinese Ginseng ( both are heating herbs) after an unhealthy meal of fried chicken meal is a definite NO NO!!! And by doing that would aggravate internal heat sickness. The perfect analogy I can use in this example is like adding more fuel to the fire.

According to the principles of Chinese internal medicine, acne, pimples, Rosacea, excessively oily skin, oily acne prone skin, dry skin, dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis, and host of other skin ailments are a direct result of intense internal heat symptoms aggravated by consuming excessive amounts of extreme heat-induced toxic foods that fall the category of FRIED, GRILLED, ROASTED, BARBECUED, BAKED, AND PAN FRIED.

I remember some time ago watching a Proactive Solutions infomercial where those dermatologists rejected the idea that acne is caused by diet. That was some time ago when Proactive Solutions came out for the first time. I think it was about 1996 when I tried Proactive for the first time. But I am sure today, the same dermatologists changed their opinion about the importance of diet being a major factor on radiant skin health. I truly believed as time evolved, they have been constantly educating themselves on the subject of skin health and eventually made some shocking dietary skin care discoveries just like I did later on in my life regarding the importance of detoxification.

And at that time, I remembered not knowing the exact meaning of a healthy way of eating. As a matter of fact, I honestly didn’t care at all. I was eating unhealthy foods like hot dogs and hamburgers almost every day. No wonder why it resulted in my acne getting worse despite my persistent use of this effective acne product that did nothing for me at all. Maybe if I was eating semi healthy foods, the product may or may have not worked. And I can bet that all the people appearing as featured testimonials in the Proactive Solutions infomercials have embarked on an acne cure diet in order to see results. You never hear those customer testimonials talk about their dietary changes for acne treatment on live national TV.

And correct me if I am wrong. I can bet that when you have called to place your very first order for Proactive Solutions, before you could get a chance to hang up the phone, the operator offered you some special deal on vitamins for acne and other supplements to go with the acne product. And I am so sure that they have told you the importance of skin health and diet and they are using this as their sales pitch to sell you acne relief supplements. And now I can see why a lot of people are seeing some results. And at that time when I had placed my first order, I remembered telling the operator that I was only interested in just the acne product and nothing else.

And I remember at that same time also there were infomercials about the tongue scraper. And those so-called oral hygiene experts made the claim that this tongue scraper that looked no different than the hand held shaver would help you get rid of bad breath by aiding in the removal of the foul smelling tongue coating called halitosis. Do I need to say more? You could have saved yourself some money by using your toothbrush effectively and taking advantage of the detoxification secrets of fresh fruits or freshly squeezed fruit juices on an empty stomach.

I have done my share of tongue scraping and I do it every morning as I am brushing my teeth. But regardless of how much tongue coating you are capable of scraping off, if your body is toxic from the burden of food related ill health and hard to digest foods, the tongue coating will reappear if you decide to continue your day with the same indigestible foods of a toxic nature that you had the day before.

Today I am going to talk about a time tested and proven detoxification principles involving tongue analysis to help you determine the quantity of toxins in your body. I will also reveal what types of foods you should avoid when you have a specific type of tongue coating. Oily acne prone skin sufferers will definitely benefit tremendously from today’s post. I will show you how to stop it in it’s tracks before it gets worse. It is considered to be an ancient Chinese preventive medicine protocol and a method of Asian skin care. This is based on my strong belief in the concept that an ounce of prevention is always worth a pound of cure.

You can engage in a very healthy eating routine and still occasionally suffer health problems relating to everything from allergies, colds, physical discomfort, and skin problems. I know we all have heard the saying that if you eat a healthy diet, it is very hard to get sick. It is true to the extent of what types of foods you are eating. Let me give you an example.

My dad suffers from jock itch and he was battling it all his life until now he finally got it under control. I suffered from occasional jock itches a couple years ago and other types of body rashes. Thank God that I now have it under control. This is mainly due to allergic reactions to foods of certain kinds and how our bodies inefficiently process those types of foods. Now let me talk about the way how your body processes food differently.

Michael Phelps, the Olympic swimming champion with 8 gold medals, is a classic example of how he can process all kinds of foods very well. If you had watched the Olympics intensely like I did, you would have become acquainted with his unorthodox diet routine. Did you see all those huge servings of heavy foods that he downed in one sitting? I am a big eater myself but not like him. And plus tall people tend to eat more than short people because they have bigger stomachs. And given the strenuous swimming activities he engages in, he needs those calories anyway despite the moderately healthy foods he’s consuming on a daily basis. The reason I say moderately healthy is because despite his consumption of foods high in fat, high in starchy carbohydrates and low in vegetables, he manages very well to refrain from eating hamburgers and fried foods which are the most difficult to digest. And as long as he stay away from fried foods, the food he is currently eating is considered a mildly healthy meal given his energy needs.

Even though hamburgers are not fried like chicken, but from a Chinese medicine standpoint, they are considered fried because the hamburger meat is pan fried in not only oil but enormous amount of animal fat. The Chinese herbalist take into account the way the food has been cooked.

These are the types of foods that cause acne and pimples. And I am not surprised that Michael doesn’t have any at all. As a matter of fact, he can get away with this type of daily eating routine without suffering any side effects due to the extreme physical exertion of his swimming activities. Please note that I am not trying to say that if you are very active like Michael Phelps, and eat like him, you are not going to suffer from acne. As a matter of fact, there are a lot of athletes who have developed acne. That is because they follow a diet high in fat especially fried foods which makes those foods incredibly hard to digest.

One thing I noticed about Michael Phelps is that he rarely eats fried foods. I am pretty sure his nutritionist advised him to stay away from hard to digest fried foods that would impair his physical performance. And also he doesn’t stuff himself either. Despite the huge servings of food he wolfs down on a regular basis in each sitting, he only eats to be satiated. He never under eats or overeats. And that is the key to be acne free. It is the most misunderstood concept that acne sufferers take for granted.

And there are acne victims who have dramatically reduced their acne symptoms by simply quitting their habit of overeating. Instead they just eat to be satiated. And by doing that, they reduce the possibility of digestive impairment that can aggravate acne conditions. And that is without any drastic dietary changes.

A good rule of thumb to practice is that if you are going to eat foods like pizza and you know that pizza slows digestion due to it’s hard to digest nature, just don’t eat so much of it. If it normally takes two slices to keep you full, just eat one slice instead. The purpose of this exercise is to teach you not to eat until you are full. My father have given me these words of wisdom given his herbalist background. He said to eat until you are about 70% full. That is the healthy way of eating. I know it is hard to quantify “stomach fullness.” The best advice I can give you is just eat when you are hungry. And stop eating when you are not hungry anymore. The whole purpose of eating is to eliminate hunger.

Body builders eat six meals a day or more and they are able to stay lean because they are eating smaller meals for optimal digestion and physical performance. And they rarely suffer from skin ailments. The ones who do are most likely taking steroids or consuming too many calories in their quest to gain muscle. I personally know skinny people who were once acne and blemish free all of sudden developed severe acne because they started taking supplements and ingesting high calorie meals in their desperate attempts to gain weight on a muscle building program. And I have been there and done that.

People who suffer from bad breath symptoms are people who love to overeat. In other words, they will continue to finish everything on their plate regardless of how full they are already. I know we were taught to eat everything on our plate and don’t waste anything. This type of mindset that was instilled in us from the day we were born until now is the main factor behind the rising epidemic of obesity, digestive disorders, sluggishness and skin problems.

In the prior posts, I talked about the rising epidemic of a particular bad habit. And that is studying or reading after eating a big meal. Blood that is needed to digest your food is drawn away from your stomach to your brain when you engage in reading or any other kind of intense mental concentration. As a result, you will suffer from lack of proper digestion. And as a result, bad breath will follow.

Now I am going to go over the tongue analysis exercise that you can use to effectively diagnose your current symptoms. All acne sufferers should follow this protocol in attempts to eliminate the symptoms that are causing their acne flare ups.

The best time to perform a tongue diagnosis is early in the morning after you rise. The appearance of your tongue should be pink with a thin white transparent coating on the back. This is a sign of healthy digestive system.

Acne sufferers tend to have a tongue with a thick yellow greasy coating. That represents a sign of digestive disorders that cannot be felt in terms of side effects. It manifests itself in the form of bad breath odor. There are a combination of factors that causes this type of tongue coating. Pigging out, eating fried foods or oily foods, or any slow digesting foods (excessive meat ), and Yang foods.

Yang foods refer to spicy foods or any food cooked at a very high temperature. This refers to these styles of cooking: roasted, barbecue, fried, grilled, pan fried, and baked. These particular cooking processes are extremely high in temperature.

Boiled food (and steamed food) do not have as high a temperature as foods that are roasted, barbecue, grilled, fried, pan fried and baked. Foods that are boiled and steamed tend to retain water. Remember in the earlier posts, I talked about the principle of eating high water content fruits and vegetables. Well that principle also applies to method of cooking. For example, when you boil a chicken as opposed to baking a chicken, which one would you say retains more water? Of course, the boiled chicken. And technically from principles of Chinese Medicine, eating a boiled chicken is much healthier than eating a roasted chicken.

Due to the extreme length of this post, I will continue where I left off. I strongly feel that in order for me to really help you fully understand how to properly perform a tongue diagnosis to eliminate skin disorders and other unfelt digestive disorders that causes many types of health problems, I strongly believe it is important for you to first understand all the important points of how your body assimilates food differently so you can have an even better understanding of tongue diagnosis in Chinese Medicine.
